What this is

Shuttler keeps badminton ratings for a group of people who play each other. It is free, it carries no advertising, and there is no paid tier waiting to appear. It is run by one person as a personal project.

Your account

One account, yours, with a name and an address that reaches you. You are responsible for what happens under it, so keep the password to yourself — and if you think somebody else has it, change it from the You screen or reset it.

You must be 13 or over. If you are under 18 you need a parent or guardian's permission, and you confirm you have it when you sign up.

Results belong to everybody in them

A match is proposed by whoever logged it and counts once the other side agrees, or once the group's deadline passes without an objection. Correcting one later works the same way.

This is the part worth understanding before you start: a result is not yours to withdraw once it has landed, any more than it is your opponent's. Every rating in the group is worked out by replaying the whole log, so a result removed on one person's say-so would rewrite other people's history. Disagreements are settled between the players and, failing that, by the group's admins.

Groups run themselves

Whoever creates a group owns it, and the owner and admins decide who is in it, what it is called, and how disputes there end. Shuttler does not adjudicate results and does not sit above an admin.

If the problem is an admin, or a group's name, write to help@shuttler.club. That address is read by a person and the answer may be to remove a group. Leaving is always available and always yours alone.

Adding people who have not signed up

You can add somebody to a group so that they can be played against before they have an account. Doing that stores a display name and nothing else, and Shuttler never contacts them — passing on the invitation is your job.

Only add people who play with you, and use a name they would recognise. Adding somebody who does not play with you, or naming them in a way meant to embarrass, is a reason for a group to be removed.

What not to do

• Do not log results that did not happen, or agree to ones you know did not.
• Do not use the free-text fields for abuse, or for anything about a person that is not about badminton.
• Do not try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service, and do not attempt to reach data that is not yours.

An account or a group doing these things can be removed, and for anything serious that will happen without warning.

No promises about the ratings

The ratings are the output of a published method applied to the results people entered. They are not a measure of anybody's worth as a player, and Shuttler does not promise they are correct, fair, or fit for choosing a team, awarding a place or settling a bet.

The service is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, it may lose data, and it may stop. As far as the law allows, Shuttler is not liable for anything that follows from using it.

This can end

You can delete your account at any time from the You screen. Shuttler can end its side too — if it does, there will be notice and a chance to export your data first, unless something makes that impossible.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you use Shuttler as a consumer somewhere else, this does not take away rights your own country's law gives you.

Privacy is the other half of this, and describes everything Shuttler holds about you.
